Video Oster Classic 76 hair clipper – take apart to clean or fix
This Oster hair clipper is very popular for stylists and barbers. This Classic 76 clipper is known as a very reliable and professional clipper for many years. Note: This is not a professional classic 76 repair person. It is an amateur video demonstrating how to take apart a Classic 76 clipper. A friend had several non-working classic 76 clippers. My plan was to see if I could get at least one of them working by swapping the parts from the bad clippers. In this case, most of the clippers needed only a new carbon brush/springs, and a good cleaning/regreasing. I had a long relationship with an beauty store ( www.texasbeautysupplies.com ), so bought the parts that I needed from them. They have been always so helpful. In this case, I needed For parts: Oster PART Classic 76 CARBON BRUSH and BRUSH SPRING #62106, AND, Oster Gear Lube – 1.25oz #76300-105 For tools: Phillips screwdriver, Flat screwdriver, and retainer ring pliers. (flashlight, qtips, and paper towels are usefull too) This an amateur video demonstrating the steps to disassemble an Oster 76, in order to help others that may also be needing to do the same thing. It is recommended to take it to a professional oster service center, but, I understand that there are cases that option is not available. My opinion… Between each customer: use Oster Spray Disinfectant Citrus Fragrance #40878 to clean the blade. At least once a week: spray your clipper with Oster Kool Lube 3 Clipper Blade Coolant Lubricant Cleaner. Oster …

My mom has been thru at least 7 of these clippers and the one she has now is about to bust so I have a few here I’ll try to repair for her if bot she vows not to buy another one. Hopefully with the help of this vid I can refurbish these busted ones. Thanks for the help.

lol. Yes, it is excessively used. It is a defensive habit used in conversations
to help establish that the context will be for basic information only.
(so, I do thank you for not nitpicking the names or steps demonstrated)
Count the number of times the word “basically” is used in this video. I didn’t actually count, but I think it was in the tens of thousands.

noise… perhaps, the carbon pieces need to be replaced? perhaps, they need a good cleaning/oiling/greasing by the local clipper repair shop. sorry, I don’t know. If you don’t have a local shop, but have some basic tools (like in the video) then you could take the thing apart. regrease it, etc. Its bound to be cheaper than buy a new one. Hmm, is the hinge that holds the clipper blade loose? (if you take the blade off and turn it on, does it make the same noise?)

if my clippers are making a load noise and had them for 4 years should i by new ones.and my clippers dont have a adjust button.
@maggierocks
Those clippers are not adjustable.
they don’t open and close right? so i need to buy blades to do a good fade
What about oiling the clippers
wanted to thank you for posting this video..was able to disassenble my Oster Classic 76 clippers and make the repair myself using your video..the small nut that holds the switch in place broke,this caused the switch to move around freely in the end cap..after disassembling ,also found a wire that was broken off the switch…thanks again for posting vid.,was a huge help..

@cruepage
Yea, it was a piece of carbon brush stuck inside. In your case, I would recommend replacing the switch. I would think that it would actually be pretty easy to do that. Well, the most difficult is finding the switch. (well, you could find it online, but, you may already have a local electronics store)

@asweetroubledsoul hey their,did you ever find out the solution to your problem? my switch is also loose and it turns on and off by itself..
the switch on my 76 is loose. how do i tighten it? it turns on and off by its self and i know its the switch i just dont know how to tighten it
@edabarber1 re grease and oil them
@megarepsol well i basiclly just put the spring over the broken brush and it worked fine..i guess i have to wait until the lil bit left is warn away.
@megarepsol
Thats what was wrong with this clipper. Once I pulled out the core section, I found the end piece of those carbon brush. So basically we had to take it apart to find and remove the carbon end.
@edabarber1
Perhaps, it needs to be cleaned out. There is some airflow thru the vent and bottom of clipper caused by the fan.
damn dude i was changing the carbon thingies and it broke inside both sides…i cant get those things out its pissing me off …plz help before i break these clippers into a million pieces
